Why and how to maintain your professional network, for your success?

Master the art of seizing opportunities and being proactive.

Your network is not a given, like a tree with many ramifications, it requires careful maintenance.

Keep in touch and keep your notebook up to date

Life separates, it is well known! Maintain ties. Beyond the relational dimension, it is crucial that we are aware of your developments and that you follow each other's situation if you want to usefully activate your network.

Encourage meeting opportunities

More actively, attend or better take an active part in the evening debates of your former large group or study clubs of large groups or studies... Nothing replaces direct contact. Without delay, take advantage of an event to bring together your best contacts, an exhibition unrelated to your activity. The more connections there are between the different members of your network, the more dynamic it will be.

Be available and pro-active within your network

A network requires reciprocal relationships. Bettina Sourir, author of the book “Cultivate your network relationship” gives this excellent definition: “A successful formal network is built on exchange, trust, esteem for the skills and specificities of each; it holds up if each member can one day give to another as much or more than what he himself has received.”

Master the art of seizing opportunities and being proactive. Have you been contacted by a headhunter? Go there even if you're not interested. So you will have established personal contact with this hunter. If you suggest the name of a contact who might be interested, they will also be grateful to you and the hunter, whom you have helped.
