Can a wife ask for a divorce from her impotent husband?

Love, relationship and family

Many women are not interested in material goods, what matters to them is to enjoy their husbands, to have children, and they may even be the ones supporting their husbands.

Can a wife ask for a divorce from her impotent husband?

“The marriage contract implies that the husband can fully be with his wife, where he wants and when he wants ... except in what has been prohibited or what causes harm (to the wife). Just as the marriage contract implies that the woman possesses a dowry equivalent to the dowry of women similar to her, and that she has the right to fully be with her husband, and if he is emasculated or impotent she can ask for the annulment of the marriage.”

Impotence is something that happens, and a lot of men lose the desire so that their penises no longer stand up. Whoever this happens must be patient, God says: “For those who take an oath to deprive themselves of their wives, there is a four-month waiting period. And if they go back (on their oath) it will be canceled. But if they decide to divorce, God hears and knows all.”

If four months go by and he has not decided anything, the wedding can be called off.

How can (some) say, when we know for sure that he has no relationship with his wife, that she has no choice and must stay with him?

What is right is that helplessness exists, and if that happens, the wife has a choice (to stay or to go).

If someone says: How could she have a choice over something that God predestined for her husband, without him being able to choose?

We say that this is among the trials that befalls a man, if he is affected by one trial, he should not make others suffer.

If the man does not spend time with his wife, she can ask for the annulment of the marriage.

Many women are not interested in material goods, what matters to them is to enjoy their husbands, to have children, and they may even be the ones supporting their husbands.

So the real view is that if helplessness arises and it is known to be incurable, the woman can ask for the marriage to be annulled.

But if it's a fleeting thing, we don't allow him to ask for the annulment of the marriage because we don't despair that he can have sex again.
