You have decided to breastfeed your little one. Do you know the benefits of breastfeeding? Whether it's for you or your child, breastfeeding is good for your health!
Breast-feeding or bottle-feeding? As far as you are concerned, the choice has already been made: it will be breastfeeding! Whatever your reason, do you know the benefits of breastfeeding?
According to a scientific study, breastfeeding your baby will make you lose weight. A godsend after a pregnancy during which extra pounds are installed! So you could lose up to 500 calories per day. Why? Even though scientists haven't found a reliable explanation, they found that women breastfeeding loses weight fast. “Sitting on a rocking chair and breastfeeding is like an hour on the treadmill, and that has many benefits,” the study adds.
So how is this possible? Even though the study does not explain the process responsible for this weight loss, it may be due to the “reset hypothesis.” According to this theory, certain fats accumulate during pregnancy and insulin resistance increases, as do lipid and triglyceride levels. Breastfeeding could play a key role in reversing these changes, essentially “resetting” mom's metabolism after pregnancy. This would then have an influence on his weight in the long term.
What’s in it for your baby? The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age, especially to avoid obesity for the next 30 years. But nothing prevents you from extending it until its 1 year, or even its 2 years (apart from the pressure of the entourage and the company). Indeed, breast milk contains all the elements necessary for the good development of your baby: essential fatty acids and others, your milk is optimal for the health of your little one. In addition, breastfeeding strengthens the mother-child relationship and gives the baby a strong sense of security.
Stop believing in these preconceived ideas! Breastfeeding your child for several months or several years will not make him a fearful child who will not cut the cord, it does not affect his future social and psychological behavior.
The study confirms that breastfeeding is not only good for babies: it is also good for the mother. And you, have you lost weight while breastfeeding your baby? Do you think breastfeeding and weight are related?
