It is also absolutely necessary to realize that there are many things that you can still do or achieve despite your advanced age.
In the modern world, almost everything is measured in terms of performance and strength. However, these two elements are associated with youth, which devalues old age. Aging therefore means feeling that you are becoming useless, especially for women. To accept your age, you have to have a different conception of old age and not give in to the temptation of idleness. To live happily, you have to accept your age as a gift and make your dreams come true.
What are the reasons some people are ashamed of their old age? Old age is badly experienced by the elderly because society values youth too much.
Social pressure: If old age is so badly felt in societies, it is because young people are idealized. The latter is associated with life, and the older we get, the more society “forbids” us to live fully. In addition, our society puts too much emphasis on strength and youth by too often obscuring weakness and old age. The consequence of this fact is that aging is felt with guilt. In Western countries, it almost feels like we become more and more useless as we get older. Rather, in other parts of the world, old age is associated with attributes that are often more rewarding than those of youth. It simply brings values that young people lack.
Women’s perception of age: Old age is felt more deeply by women and for a simple reason. In our society, women feel they exist when they manage to seduce and please men. It is for this reason that for women it is so important to take care of their appearance. As a woman gets older, she feels the flame of beauty dying out, which sometimes hurts her.
So, what are the secrets to accepting your age?
To accept your age, you must above all value what society gives little value: old age. We also have to realize how lucky we have been to have lived all this time and to continue to live.
To come to terms with your age, you have to get a better idea of your old age. As we age we lose strength, but we gain other equally important things such as wisdom and experience. We also have more freedom because we have more free time to help others and we are more attentive. Also, one should be grateful for having lived all this time and still being alive.
It is also absolutely necessary to realize that there are many things that you can still do or achieve despite your advanced age. There is no need to put up barriers: continuing to live and do things as before is essential. No matter how old you are, this is still the time to make your dreams come true. It is idleness that makes old age feel more strongly as a burden. So you have to get rid of it and get active, play sports, take care of yourself, your lifestyle and your diet.
The fight against procrastination, that is to say the idea of putting off what you want to do, is one of the solutions offered to come to terms with your age. We have to tell ourselves that life does not stop when we are old and that the time that we have left should be used.
