The farmer, his son and their donkey: what should we understand from this story?

The farmer, his son and their donkey: what should we understand from this story?

The farmer having been unable to do anything, he returned empty-handed to the house.

One fine morning, a farmer and his son were taking their donkey to the market to sell it.

The father and his son were walking and the donkey followed them. No sooner had they taken a few steps than they encountered a group of girls walking in the opposite direction.

“Look at them!” One of the girls exclaimed, pointing to the farmer,
“How stupid they are! They are walking on foot when they could get on their donkey!”

Hearing this, the old man quietly told his son to get on the back of the donkey and then they continued on their way towards the market...

They passed a group of men sitting by the side of the road and the farmer heard one of the men say:

“Young people no longer have any respect for their old parents these days. Take this lazy boy down to rest his father's legs!”

The son then jumped down and his father took his place... Soon they came across women with their children.

“Look at this cruel man!” They cried! “He walks so fast the poor boy can barely follow him!”

The farmer then stopped and lifted the boy up to put him behind him... They continued on their way and had almost reached the market when a trader stopped them.

“Is this your donkey?” He asked.
“Yes,” replied the farmer.
“Well I'm shocked at the way you treat him,” replied the trader.
“Two people on the back of a donkey is too much! He will surely die that way. You should wear it instead!”

Following this advice, the farmer and his son dismounted the donkey, tied its paws and carried it. But the donkey refused to be carried in this way and, struggling with its paws, it broke the rope that held its paws, then fell into a river near the road and drowned. The farmer having been unable to do anything, he returned empty-handed to the house.

Moral :

Whatever you say, whatever you do, and people will always find something to complain about. So, let us work according to what satisfies God because it is only Him that we must please. And as for the advice of others, let's take the best and leave the rest!
