Will Africans ever be able to defeat Imperialism?
As Africans, we must understand that we can fight and defeat imperialism through unity and respect for laws, we can defeat imperialism if we stop with this individualistic practice which is only a source of hatred and division between African people.Updated on December 01, 2020, Thierry Mbepgué
“It is impossible to fight imperialism...” I remember this statement from Che Guevara to an American journalist in 1959, surely alluding to the American invasion of Cuba. I agree that in the past it was almost impossible to face imperialism since the mindsets of men were archaic and many countries were still under the domination and the colonial dictatorship. But now such attitudes are slowly and surely changing, it is possible to defeat imperialism. To destroy us, these imperialists impose their dictatorship and encourage us to selfishness and individualism which is a source of social division and hatred.
Before making such a statement, the revolutionary Che Guevara had first to explain to his people the reasons for imperialism, he had to teach teach his people the deep ideology of imperialism. Africans must know that imperialism is the supreme stage of capitalism, so when your country is invaded by an armed band made up of outlaws, mercenaries and bandits that we wrongly call “rebels,” it is not for people’s interests as some people think, but on the contrary it is to serve capitalistic people hidden in the shadow.
Imperialism is based on the pursuit of maximum profit for each of these capitalists, and not on how to meet people’s needs. French imperialism, for example, has a particularly horrible colonial history, especially in Indochina and Algeria, with methods that have been widely emulated. Death squads and military dictatorships imposed and supervised by them. This practice continues to these days in French-speaking Africa. Despite the “independence” they claimed after much effort, the colonizing country continues to have control under these former colonies. It’s sad.
As Africans, we must understand that we can fight and defeat imperialism through unity and respect for laws, we can defeat imperialism if we stop with this individualistic practice which is only a source of hatred and division between African people.
I appeal to the unity of all the children of Africa, that Africans learn to wash their dirty linens as a family, that Africans now learn to unite and to fight their common enemy, that Africans join their forces to protect the continent, so imperialism will be defeated.
God bless Africa!
