Are you aware of all the dangers of piercing?

Wellness

Parasitic and protozoan infections can occur while swimming in lakes, rivers and at sea during the healing period. It is therefore best to avoid bathing in it before the healing has finished.

Are you aware of all the dangers of piercing?

Piercing is a practice that involves piercing a part of the body to put a piece of jewelry. This is a type of body modification that can be accompanied by the following consequences:

An allergic reaction to the ingredients of the products to clean the new piercing or of the products used in the vicinity of the piercing (soap, hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, antibacterial products, antiseptics, makeup, hairspray, swimming pool chlorine, etc. ).

An allergic reaction to the metal in jewelry, especially nickel.

Bacterial infection, especially Staphylococcus aureus. However, this risk is minimal when the perforation is performed by a professional, and when appropriate measures are taken during the aftercare period to avoid infection.

Parasitic and protozoan infections can occur while swimming in lakes, rivers and at sea during the healing period. It is therefore best to avoid bathing in it before the healing has finished.

Trauma related to a recent perforation or related to the accidental hooking of the piercing with another object. This risk is always present, but it can be reduced by using appropriate jewelry and covering piercings with tape during sports activities.

Viral infection, especially hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV. Possible risk when putting on the piercing, but also for "intimate" piercings, even completely healed, which increase the risk of being contaminated by sexually transmitted diseases.

Piercings in or around the mouth (especially the tongue and lip) are harmful to the teeth in the long term.
