Do you really know why you have belly fat? Here are the reasons you should know!

Wellness

If you sleep with a full stomach, you are putting a higher risk for fat storage around your belly area. If you are going to eat late at night, eat something healthy, like a banana or a handful of almonds.

Do you really know why you have belly fat? Here are the reasons you should know!

Before you start to burn belly fat and tone your abs, you need to understand a little more about how your body works and find out why people have swollen bellies.

Many people believe that the swollen belly is caused by the lack of physical exercise and also the lack of a healthy diet. While this may be the most common case, there may also be other reasons that cause a swollen belly:

Menopause

After menopause for women, fat begins to be stored in different places and often it is concentrated too much around the belly.

Genetic

There are two common body types: apple and pear.

If your weight and fat are concentrated a lot on the bottom, then you would be considered pear shaped.

If you are the type of person who stores more belly fat, you would be considered apple shaped.

Think of your loved ones ... especially those who are overweight.

If many of them are heavier around the belly area, then it is quite possible that you have the genes that make you genetically apple-shaped when you put on excess weight. Which means your body is more likely to store fat in the belly than anywhere else.

Stress

Stress doesn't just inflate your belly; it can do more if you're not careful. When you are stressed, your body releases the hormone cortisol. In turn, this hormone causes the liver to make excess sugar that your body doesn't really need. Therefore, you start to feel hungrier and start eating more. And guess! Many of these calories go straight to your belly.

Poor digestion

This can also be caused by stress. Poor digestion due to stress can cause many types of gastrointestinal issues that swell your stomach.

Metabolism

As we age, our metabolism tends to slow down. This means that you didn't burn calories as quickly or as easily as you did when you were younger. A slower metabolism can also result in additional fat storage, especially around the middle (belly).

Eating late at night

If you want to control your belly fat, you should never eat late at night. You want your food to be well digested before you go to bed. If you sleep with a full stomach, you are putting a higher risk for fat storage around your belly area. If you are going to eat late at night, eat something healthy, like a banana or a handful of almonds.

Determine your Cause

As I said earlier, the primary cause of excess belly fat is poor diet and lack of exercise. We must all be aware of the importance of these elements (nutrition, exercise).

However, as you have just seen, there are other factors that contribute to having a swollen belly and it is therefore important to learn more about the reasons that you may have about this problem. Especially if you tend to have more fat in your belly than any other part of your body.
