What is diabetes?

Diabetes, a disease that affects a large majority of the world's population, manifests itself through various symptoms. This is due to an insufficiency or misuse by the body of a hormone: insulin. The role of the latter is to regulate the level of sugar circulating in the blood to avoid the risk of hyperglycemia.

Diabetes is, in fact, divided into two main types. A distinction is therefore made between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Each of them has its own specificity and affects people who have it differently.

Type 1 of the disease appears most frequently in children or adolescents and may even be present from birth. In general, the most common symptoms are frequent urge to urinate, thirst, and a fairly excessive need for food.

Type 2, on the other hand, usually develops in more mature people and is most often due to a poor diet, lack of physical activity.

Greasy or excessively rich products such as animal meat, sweets and other pastries should be reduced, or even banned in the event of a predisposition to diabetes.

It is recommended to practice a regular sporting activity at a rate of 30 to 45 minutes per day.

Drug prevention.

Prevention in general limits the risk of developing the disease. Besides natural means, a study called DREAM] was able to show that the use of drugs can help prevent diabetes. Learning about this disease is important and should be a priority for everyone. Certain attitudes must be adopted in order to prevent its occurrence.

Alcohol and cigarettes should be avoided because, according to some research, they can be considered as risk factors.

Limit the consumption of foods such as red meat, high fat products including cheese and whole milk, fast foods, sweets, etc.

Fruits and vegetables should be favored in order to have a supply of fiber and vitamins.

The daily consumption of green tea is also said to have the ability to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

The consequences of late screening.

Although not contagious, diabetes once developed can be dangerous in some cases depending on the type.

When the management of the disease comes late, the affected person may die suddenly.

Other disorders such as lower extremity ulceration are also linked to diabetes and can cause possible amputation.

Cardiovascular problems and several other complications with the eyes or kidneys can also occur.

Prevent diabetes to live better.

The warning about the harmful effects of diabetes should be mainly given to young people. Indeed, this disease also affects people of a rather young age, and this, for really various reasons. Avoid excess and undergo screening if symptoms appear to limit the risk of diabetes.
